Highlighting Patient Safety at HSJ Patient Safety Congress 2023

Now into its 16th Year, the HSJ Patient Safety Congress welcomed over 1,000 NHS and independent health and social care leaders, clinicians, patients and patient representatives to Manchester Central Convention Complex on 18th and 19th September.

Our UK team returned as exhibitors to the event, providing support and information about how h-trak can support the patient safety agenda and solutions to many of the issues facing healthcare safety champions; from independent, NHS, acute, primary, community and beyond there was a diverse mix of focus, all surrounding the major topic of safety.

Interoperability and Integrated Care Systems [ICS] were also a consideration of the event, along with plenty of interesting discussions had with our team concerning barcoding and scanning for track and tracing of implants and devices, rapid product recall and how h-trak has already used these to help with providing solutions to healthcare environments.

Whilst Scan4Safety makes a resurgence, the feedback from HSJ Patient Safety is that there is a keen interest for patient-centric point-of-care data capture from a variety of avenues, as well as integration into existing clinical systems to provide a fuller and more robust picture of the patient journey. Various discussions welcomed the benefit of less time spent on duplicating inputting information and tackling multiple systems, as this meant more time could be returned back into the patient care, and therefore greater patient safety.
